Jorge Goytizolo Lazo - Artist
Drawing and learning from life

Artist Statement
I am a Peruvian artist who resides in Yorkshire, UK. As a kid I was always fascinated with realism in painting, with Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo being my favourite artists (they still are).
I have always been amazed about human psychology and how we think, so drawing people in a way, help me to explore the question of what makes us who we are? Drawing people is a challenge I love as it is a constant battle between getting the model accurately and capturing some of his/her personality.
My drawings are, in their essence, a constant struggle to capture that moment in time spent with my subject. A single moment caught in time which will stay forever as a part of me and the subject’s lifetime, and, hopefully, a moment that will last past our lifetimes in the form of my drawings.
My hope is to create artworks that connect with people, not only decoratively but also psychologically. Claude Monet once said: ‘We all look at the same things, yet see different things’
