About Jorge E. Goytizolo Lazo
I am a Peruvian born artist who now resides in the UK, and based in East Yorkshire. I worked for over 20 years as an illustrator in Peru and the UK alike, creating a variety of illustrations for magazines, manuals, books, t-shirts etc.
From late 2015, I decided to dedicate myself to create art from life and since then, I have focused on perfecting my style and trying different techniques and materials. I have taught many life drawing workshops and hosted drop in life drawing sessions in Hull - UK ever since. In 2018, I obtained my PGCE and went into teaching Further and Higher Education art courses at Hull College.
“The ability to reproduce something that was in front of me is indescribable, like pausing time and trying to capture that moment, not only visually but also the feeling and emotions that were going through my head in that precise instant. The results sometimes even exceeded my expectations.”
Currently, I am an instructor at HMP Hull prison, in the Design and Print Workshop. I teach my learners new skills that will help them find employment or continue with education. I also teach them about the importance of professional practice and the need to create quality work. Since I started 2 years ago, the studio where I work and teach has dramatically changed: it is now a place of inspiration for new learners where they can change their way of life.
I hope you enjoyed my artwork as much as I enjoyed creating it. For any commissions or enquiries, please feel free to contact me. https://www.myartbrief.com/artistProfile/Jorge
